Understanding Medical Restrictions

About a year ago, I realized that there were some issues with my medical plan. I was diagnosed with a serious condition, but my treatments weren't going along quite as nicely as I would have hoped. I started thinking about different ways to streamline things, but I knew that I needed the help of my medical provider. I headed in to a medical clinic, and they worked with me to figure things out. I wanted to start a website to encourage others to find the help they need each and every day. Check out this blog for moe information that could help you.

What To Know About Ketamine Treatments

In very broad terms, ketamine is an anesthetic. It is used by doctors when they need to put a patient to sleep to be able to perform certain procedures. It is often used with another anesthetic because ketamine does not cause the muscles to relax. However, it can create the feeling of being disconnected from your body, as if you are floating above it. It may also cause hallucinations. Some people do use it recreationally, and illegally, but the dosage is very critical to prevent an overdose and possible death. Ketamine infusion treatment is used for a very different medical reason. It is not given in dosages that will cause you to be sedated to sleep, but enough to help with the following conditions.

Depression

If you have tried multiple depression medications and they don't help, your doctor may suggest ketamine treatments. Ketamine works differently than other antidepressants. Instead of increasing the serotonin in your system to give you a happy feeling, ketamine actually works to repair the damage done to the brain from a buildup of protein caused by an overabundance of naturally produced stress hormones.

Chronic Pain

Being in almost constant pain is not fun. Many of the regularly prescribed pain medications are not only very addicting, but they also require larger and larger dosages over time and still may not alleviate the pain. Once you have tried other medications to help you get through the day and they just are not working, ask your doctor about the possibility of ketamine infusion therapy. It works to block the pain receptors in the brain. this significantly reduces the amount of pain you feel.

Anxiety

Ketamine infusion treatments can also be used to relieve anxiety and especially social anxiety disorder. The calming effect of the sedative allows you to relax. When done with the proper dosage you will be calm and yet not fall asleep during a social gathering.

Ketamine treatment should only ever be used with the guidance of your doctor. However, you need to keep in mind that it will not be prescribed for you until all other medications for the problem have proven to be ineffective. You may have to go through a period of trial and error until the appropriate dosage and time between treatments are correctly set for your situation and body. To receive the desired effects from the medication you need to be honest with your doctor.
